Laurie Borman
Pace’s (@pacecomm) ongoing Twitter hashtag event, #custcontent, featured guest tweeter and AAA Traveler editor Laurie Borman this past Thursday.
During the discussion, we talked to Laurie about creating content for travel publications and companies. Her experience working with AAA Northern California for AAA Traveler, as well as Rand McNally and AOL Travel, gave her plenty of insight into the topic. A few highlights:
@pacecomm: How do you write content for travel destinations?
@LBorman: Good travel reporters: see the place, taste the food, listen to locals, smell the flora.
@pacecomm: How do you re-purpose content for different media?
@LBorman: Twitter enroute, blog photos later, write longer pieces for print. Multiple uses from the same reporting.
@pacecomm: How do you use maps and data for travel marketing?
@LBorman: Maps are key in travel writing. Readers say "show me" and maps do that.
On July 29, we welcome Sue Polinsky (@SuePolinsky), president of Tech Triad and coordinator for Converge South, a social-networking conference held in Greensboro. We’ll chat with Sue about creating and managing content for conferences and other events.
#custcontent is held every Thursday, 1p.m. EST, on Twitter. To join the discussion, log onto Twitter, and enter #custcontent in the search box.
