Think Quarterly, for Google's business partners
Google has released a quarterly publication, a 63-page digital magazine called Think Quarterly that features articles on business and technology topics. This first edition is focused on data and was designed and edited by The Church of London, a British creative agency. The publication was created for Google's B2B clients and sent to 1,500 of the company's partners and advertisers in the United Kingdom. Google states that it does not intend to publish it on a wider scale or engage in other media publications. Google envisions Think Quarterly as “a breathing space in a busy world. It’s a place to take time out and consider what’s happening and why it matters.”
The articles are written by a variety of contributors and feature interviews with top executives in the business and tech fields, such as Google chief economist Hal Varian, psychologist Peter Kruse and an interview with data specialist Hans Rosling. The top story highlights Vodafone CEO Guy Laurence’s insights on information overload.
The design itself is clean and beautiful, with seamless page-flips, full-color high-resolution spreads and interesting graphics. You can even view it full-screen for a closer look. Even though the magazine was not made for the average consumer, the pictures and infographics are colorful and interesting enough to grab anyone's attention. I especially enjoyed seeing a page full of QR codes for readers to access the articles on their mobile phones and share with others. I look forward to seeing the next Think Quarterly from Google, due out in May.
