Grocery Store Smartphone App from Meijer
We all know apps usage and adoption is on the rise. According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project 35% of cell phone users have apps on their cell phones and 24% of them are using them. But what does that really mean to us? How are we using them? And more specifically how are marketers and grocery store marketers using them?
Recently we’ve noticed more grocery retailers introducing apps to further engage with their brands. 84% of grocery consumers using online tools have cell phones and 22% have smart phones, so they are capitalizing on the trend. Also, many of the most successful applications have been food related such as Epicurious, All Recipes and Martha Stewart. Here is a roundup of just a few of the recent apps we’ve seen grocery stores add to their content marketing roster in the last few weeks:
Meijer ‘Find It’ app
Peapod’s Online Shopping app
Whole Foods launched a new healthy living app
ShopRite’s Android friendly app
UK Grocery chain Tesco’s shopping iPhone App
Don’t see your favorite market on this list? You don’t need to feel too left out, there are services such as Cellfire that do service chains such as Safeway, Dominick’s and Kroger that deliver mobile coupons to mobile devices for these chains.
