Amazon's mobile site gives smartphone users easy access
Just as online buying quickly became a popular way to shop, mobile shopping is experiencing its own wave of popularity. A new study from ForeSee Results concluded that the percentage of people shopping on the Web from their mobile phones increased from 2% in 2009 to 11% this past holiday season. According to WalletPop, some estimates reveal that 25% to 33% of all holiday shopping was done on mobile apps. Even more shoppers are using their phones to compare prices (56%), to visit a store’s website while in the physical store (69%), or to visit a competitor’s website (46%).
Not only is it becoming increasingly important, it’s becoming almost necessary for retailers to provide mobile access to their stores. In order to keep up with increasing use of mobile phones to shop and compare, many big-name companies—such as Target, eBay and Amazon—have developed mobile sites or apps to meet the needs of their customers. Mobile shoppers often have access to deals and coupons that they wouldn’t otherwise come across. So not only is “M-commerce” changing the way we spend, it’s helping us save money, too. What’s your favorite mobile store site or app?
