Four Seasons Magazine is reborn – more elegant, relevant, intelligent

New York, NY (April 1, 2008)—Pace Communication announces the April 1 launch of the first issue of the newly redesigned and editorially revisited Four Seasons Magazine. The magazine will be published quarterly and placed in guest rooms in all Four Seasons properties in 75 locations in 31 countries.

The new Four Seasons Magazine, published by leading custom publisher Pace Communications, mirrors the global reach of the Four Seasons brand, the refined, sophisticated tastes of its guests and the elegant surroundings they find themselves in while part of the Four Seasons experience.

The contemporary, oversize format of the new publication adds breadth to the sharp, elegant design, developed in partnership with Luke Hayman of Pentagram. Contributions from some of the world’s best writers, photographers and illustrators combine to bring the magazine to life.

The first issue reveals the world’s most important art fairs, where billions of dollars worth of art is sold every year; the new cuisine of Mexico City, which fuses traditional ingredients and techniques with bold new flavors; some of the most luxurious fashion must-haves for spring; and the intimate photography of joSon, who studied in Vietnam to become a monk before embracing his true life’s calling behind the lens. Also included in the first issue are a look at Mikhail Gorbachev’s partnering with Louis Vuitton to champion environmental issues; a conversation with “The Women of Antinori,” who are taking the helm of their 26-generation family wine business; and espionage novelist Alan Furst’s reflections on his most-treasured city, Paris, which he calls a “talisman of the mind.”

Drawing on top talent in the industry, the editorial team is led by Duncan Christy, the veteran Editorial Director at Pace and former co-founding editor of Forbes FYI. Also lending their talents to the team are Executive Editor Susan Weissman and Design Director Jaimey Easler. Claire Wrathall, a London-based freelance writer heads up the international editorial contributions, and Jason Oliver Nixon serves as the fashion and style editor.

The reinvented magazine builds upon the high-quality editorial and design that Four Seasons Magazine has developed for more than 10 years. The magazine has broken ground in recent years in the luxury magazine set, transcending publications in the hotel category with a product that both guests and advertisers value.

“The magazine is a much-appreciated amenity provided exclusively to Four Seasons guests. We are pleased to be able to make it even more engaging and believe it will continue to be a must-read because it reflects the lifestyle and interests of our guests,” said Susan Helstab, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

“We are honored to publish a magazine for Four Seasons, a brand that embodies luxury in the truest sense of the word,” said Craig Waller, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer for Pace Communications. “Our brief is to develop and increase the impact and reach of Four Seasons as a media brand, and this magazine is the first important step on this road. The initial reaction from advertisers has been positive, to say the least.”

Advertisers in the first issue include Brioni, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Patek Philippe, Prada and other luxury brands.
